"Connecting the dots ..."

Welcome to the Shim Family website. This site will attempt to This is an attempt to document the clusters of Shim family members around the world.

This project was inspired by my intention to search for my ancestors in a village in China, which has not been visited, since my ancestor left it a few generations ago.

SHIM is the Hakka way of pronouncing the SHEN surname in Mandarin. The following documentation is about Chinese Hakka SHIMs. Not about the Korean or Japanese SHIMs that happen to have a similar romanised syntax of the surname.

Genealogy research is usually done by 3 methods. Personal family history, official records, and genetics (DNA).

There are a number of Shim Family clusters around the world. The paper trail of how these various clusters are connected has not yet been completely established.
